That is, its never too early to get your Halloween prepping game on!
[UPDATE: I’ve added more pix of their halloween treats for your viewing and pre-shopping pleasure! You’re welcome.]
Because, no matter what, I always seem to find myself tripping over my feet to get everything done as well as squeeze in the Halloween goodies and prepping in. Each year I vow that I will start preparing sooner. And that I will craft less and just bite bullet and buy the shit from the store next year…and then each year I dont.
But THIS year, with a bit of help from Woolworths, Im doing it, and I think Halloween may be just a tad bit easier!
You see, about two weeks ago as I raced through Woolies food isles, I had to do a dramatic slow reverse with my trolley, all the way back to their latest in-store promotion stand. And there she was, their Halloween display.
Now, ok, fine. It may not be all oohh, and ahhh, but theres just something about Halloween that gets going! Even if the display is as limited as this. Its like a fire-starter to me about the fun that is Halloween!
Dont get me wrong, Im not into the whole spirits and other worldly bits thats associated with Halloween. Im just into the pumpkins, the dressing up, the kiddy fun games, the cool baking stuff, and the decor. Basically, its all just one massive reason for me to get my crafting and creativity on! Oh and candy. Lots and lots of candy! And now with the kids, I have even more excuses to do Halloween activities.
But I digress. Slightly. The Woolworths Halloween display. Right. There may not be much there as in previous years. Like say, their pumpkin carving kit, and the halloween torches, etc. But they DID have alot of new ranges of candy.
Now, my American readers, please do not look down upon us South Africans. We are still new to this whole Halloween vibe, so yes our selection is pretty limited to say the least. Save the pity, and just be happy with us that we’re also getting in on the action a bit.
There were awesome pumpkin and ghoul shaped lollies and gummies, etc, but I went for the “bulk option” instead. My particular purchase of the day included two of these pumpkin buckets. So whilst they are choc-a-block with candy, they also double up as cute little trick-or-treat loot holders. They’re going at R99. And if you think of the amount of candy thats in them, and compare that to just an empty trick or treat holder at other stores,it would definitely be value for money, I’d say.
So that would be two birds with one stone for me at least: enough candy for the trick-or-treaters at our door, and loot holders for our two little trick-or-treaters. And it comes with a lid. Perfect for my clumsy clod of a toddler. There are three types of candy inside: eyeballs, faces and other halloween shapes. The detail of them make them very cute, and far from gruesome or off-putting for any kid. Or adult, in fact. Also making them perfect for cupcake toppers too, if you were looking for some.
Either way, I would suggest you pop on over to Woolworths food section to check it out.
Next up Im going to check out their clothing section. Hopefully they have costumes for littlies out already! Will keep you posted.
