I actually really loved making this craft. I don’t know why. Maybe it was the fact that it was Maleficent (she’s an interesting character, no?), or if it was because I really just needed to do something with my hands that day. Or if it was because it was such a practical craft that could be used over and over, whilst still nicely playing into the Halloween theme of the month. Who knows, but I really liked the way it turned out.

This was a craft we did for last year’s Halloween(2014), and yet here are the girls still wearing their handmade hair adornments this year.

So I thought I’d share my find with you, and maybe your kids would like it too. Yes?

Be warned, depending on your children’s age, the adult is doing most of the cutting, but thereafter, its all about pasting, making it perfect for little fingers to practice some fine motor skills.

All you need:

Black, green and purple felt material (You won’t need much. I bought small squares from my local fabric store at a steal)
Hair clips, either the crocodile type or the snappers. (I would recommend the crocodiles, as the motive would stick better. However, I used these snappers that I bought at China for cheap-cheap five bucks.)
Some loose gold/yellow sequence for the eyes.
White craft glue (the type tha dries transparently)
-And lastly, the template for Maleficent’s face over here.

It’s relatively easy to make, and the instructions are all on that link above, enjoy! By the way, I also like this craft because you can use any design on your hair clip, not just Maleficent – think flowers, sun, cloud and rainbows, whatever!

Mother of two (and counting),a very happy wifey, blogger, lover of life and laughter, a clumsy swimmer, loyal friend, Im funnier in my head than I actually am, I get inexplicably excited about good food, baking & crafts. Although, I think baking and crafts are just trying to fill a void that my Kenpo and gym-rat days used to fill. Lastly, according to the rest of the world, I fix your printer.
