I know it may be a bit heavy on the cheese with the my title, but, guys…we actually are headed to Houston….So, I think I could be totally forgiven for my cheese…
I’m not going to lie though, this has been my most graceless slide to the finish. But by the grace of God, we’re here. That is, at least, if everything went to plan, then we should be up in the air..or landed on US soil by now. (Update:Everything, did go well by the way- hence the pictures. 😉 )
To say, we’re excited would be the understatement of the year..possibly century. Morgy could barely sleep the night before and was up until well past midnight coming to check on me packing. She came to double check, then triple check that I packed in her princess dress for the castle, and then wanted to go over her personal bucket list for this trip.(Can you tell after who she takes after? ps. give you a hint, Mike and Pax were fast asleep)
Whilst, I again, was up until well past 2am packing and planning. Yes, I wasn’t kidding about the 11th hour being my jam. Although, I knew I’d regret every second of being up until so late and with our pending 30 hour flight…With Kids!!!
Also to say that this was the easiest trip I’ve ever planned, would be yet another understatement…in fact, it would be the biggest crock of sheesh-kebab …like ever. But that is a story for another time. Let’s not even go down the hospital road we took with Parky…but last minute second opinions and yet another “just to be sure” doctor check up (cause apparently we like to bleed money.) By the way, she got the all clear. Very, very clear. (Yay!)
So yeah, despite all that we’ve had to contend with, I’ve been pretty much out of my pants excited about this! One would think that by now, I could play it all cool and casual. But nope, the butterflies are on cue with their twirls, excitement giggles are spilling from me, visions of sugar plums dancing in my head…wait, no… Wrong festivity, thats Christmas…. But still, travel feels pretty much like Christmas morning to me, so let me sugarplum away!
If you’ve been following along in this blog or in my instagram, you may have picked up that there’s been a bit of a build up to this trip for us. I hardly shared much of it here truthfully though, but I can tell you now, my head’s been swirling with it like a whiskey in a cowboys mouth. (where I got that analogy is as odd as the analogy itself)But point is, I’m excited!
We’ve dedicated one room entirely to packing…So if you ever dared to peek inside there, you’d have find rows and rows of clothes for all of us set out in some sort of method-in-madness arrangement. I‘ll eventually narrow that chaos down to a few basics – because we’re seriously light packers. This exercise has also made me realise that there’s a lot of work still to do…especially thanks to growth spurts, most of these summer clothes are a little on the tight side of life!
But there are still so many other balls in the air…like serious amounts. None of which we normally wouldn’t really want to drop – they’re all important. But, as usual, we’re going to slip into another certain state of mind, as we start forecasting rain showers of these balls…as we start dropping them. The mind-set? “We do what we can, with what we’ve got.” A mindset Mikey taught me, and one I used to have serious trouble accepting – because we MUST do it ALL! (thats MY take on it at least.) But it is one that I’ve come to learn to accept . Or better yet, parenthood has forced me into acceptance!
And truth be told, in this case, I’m absolutely ok with it! Cause HOT DAMN, we’re off on vacation, baby!!! If anything, I really just want to chuck all the other balls and focus on what am I going to wear to that special dinner with the family? What bikini am I going to sashay around in on gulf’s coast? And very importantly, where can I get matching heart eyes sunnies for the girls and myself?
So excuse me while I go see a man about some ball dropping…. Wait, that came out wrong. But you know what I mean. 😉
Go see our in flight fun and how we kicked it off here.
