Is it a Boy or a Girl?!?! (Oh My Shattered & Excited Nerves of Joy!)

Guys, I can’t even hide it! We’re on the verge of finding out the gender of our latest team member, and Im all giddy about it. Sure, I’ve got deadlines looming, and all the reason to be thunderclouding right about now…But the truth is there is nothing that can detract from my sheer excitement of what’s about to unfold. All my brain is focussed on, is that little black envelope!

So, yes, those stupidly excited mugs up there? That’s real, unposed excitement of a mom and dad who are thrilled to find out the gender of their little bambino on the way. And yes, knowing that just one quick peek into that envelope could just put me out of my “misery” is kind of killing me softly, BUT my love for suprises will probably carry me through all the way to our actual gender reveal moment. So I. Will. Not. Crack! (despite my buddies insistence on just handing the envelope to her) 🙂 Although, truth be told, it’s not really for us…it’s more for our two other little beasties. Our two little mama bear girls who are over the moon.

You see, with Morgan-Lee – our first – I wanted to wait till birth to find out gender. But Mike, who seriously just can’tstand all that kind of excitement, insisted we find out as soon as possible. So I caved and let him have that one, with the promise that I get to choose for baby number two. And as you might have known from Parker-Grace’s birth video (or see here for the birth photographer’s story on the birth), for baby number two Mike managed to get his need-to-know-vibes under control and we waited till birth, where I got to discover it myself and call it out. That experience so lovely and cherished, that Mike kind of fell inlove with that, and so now with baby number three, HE’S the one who wants to wait. And I am the one, who’s itching to know. So typical right? I mean, I pretty sure I could hold out. Buuuuut…I also don’t want to hold out! 🙂

So instead of it just being doc spilling the beans at the next big scan – especially since our two girls are already so psyched for their new sibling – we thought we could find a way to get them involved in it all. We really want them to feel like they are a part of this change, and not just like it’s a change happening TO them. So a gender reveal felt perfect for this! And to add a little oomph we decided to call in our family too – because they take a genuine interest, were already hedging bets on the gender, and I just freaking love them. So we settled on a date pretty late in the game and opened it up to our moms and siblings to pop around if they’re free. (it was almost last minute)

To kick things off, I’ve gotten my girlies involved in the rather (admittedly) slap dash arrangements for the reveal “party” – what shall we eat, and serve to drink, etc. And as of last night, you could tell from their cheering and squealing that they are super psyched for this reveal happening over the weekend. Man, I love it! They’re committed, and have already cast their vote. Although since last night have no extended the wish for this to be twins. (which judging from the size ofmy belly, and all the scans, is highly unlikely.)

A couple of friends and colleagues have also weighed in on the gender. Some have gone on gut feel, while others on old wives tales. A lot of old wives, which I also by the way, used to totally subscribe to, but in truth right now are all giving me conflicting reports. Maybe it’s different when it’s yourself you’re applying the old tale to (?) I don’t know. What do you guys think? What do you guys use to predict gender, if you even do that? Did they work for you?

Who knows?! But what I DO know is that after this reveal this weekend, we will ALL KNOW! : )

Man oh man, I can’t to see the girls reactions – ’cause I’m totally getting them to be the revealers of it all – and just to have that small crowd of our’s together in our home again. Our little village that is already so excited and captured by the pending arrival of this little one. (every single little one in our family is met with this kind of palpable joy of anticipation, by the way). It won’t be anything fancy. No incredible décor or themed foods ( I think). No massive crowds moving through our home. But the excitement is HUGE! HUuuuuuuge, I say! And can you really blame us?!

Geez, I hope I can sleep tonight! 🙂 Now to just pull things together, because miss last-minute over here has her work cut out for her. Hopefully I don’t get too distracted with day dreams about this little one!

Here’s to finding out sweet little secrets of the most precious kind! X
