11 Fun ideas to help reignite the spark & keep those marriage flames aburning

Keeping the spark alive with some fun couple activities

So whilst Im no expert on the matter, I DO happen to be married, and so naturally I have a particularly vested interest in the subject matter. We, as per the modern norm of couples these days, seem to find ourselves with constantly strained schedules and find that dedicated time for each other has become increasingly harder to come by. We’ve learnt that this time doesn’t just present itself, or magically appear out of no where. It needs to be carved out. By us. And we found that when we do take the time to do so, it feels like the stars realign themselves and our soul tanks were topped up. It’s like we re-establish our equilibrium once more and have happy dust coursing through our veins again. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies, but when it is, that is what we all enjoy and hold onto, and try to have and create more of it as possible. It’s part of the glue. So I thought I’d share with you what we do,what we enjoy and what works for us.

So what do we do? Well, we do stuff! And by stuff, I mostly mean action-packed or fun-filled stuff. Yes, adventurous, but mostly, and at the very least, we do Continue reading

Hit up Sinatra’s for an incredible dinner and Odeon private cinema movie experience

Date night: because part of being a good parent is investing in each other as a couple.

Date night: because part of being a good parent is investing in each other as a couple.

So a couple of weeks ago hubby and I had such an incredible date night…I know, right…its already been weeks since we’ve had a date night. Sad. Yes. But the experience itself was so enjoyable, that its been tying us over quite nicely… Ok, fine! Who am I kidding!? Yes, we’re totally well overdue for another date night, but Im not even kidding one bit about just how wonderful Sinatra’s of The Pepperclub hotel is.

The Pepperclub is situated in Continue reading

So I’ve been wanting to check this joint out for yonks, ever since I spotted the rather intriguing name last year…But,as you may well know, being a parent often means some serious NASA–level communication and co-ordination with your “village” (if they’re available) to make date-night happen. (I ain’t even kidding). So about three weeks ago when our open-air cinema plans fell through, but we still had a secured babysitter for the night, we grabbed at the opportunity to finally pop in at the hot and fine, Jackal& Hide.

This past weekend, we got to celebrate this guy…
My very own personal little dream come true, built-exactly-according-to-spec hubby. And it was a FULL day of celebration from the beachy morning, a lunch, cake ‘n tea, right down to a very taste bud satisfying dinner at one of Cape Town’s little hidden gems, Izakaya Matsuri!

Birthday boy had a major sushi craving that needed tending to, so I was Continue reading

The Galileo: a movie night under the summer night sky!

Awesome, innit?

Awesome, innit?

Looking for a brilliantly romantic, that’s also super chilled out date night ideas? Then look no further than The Galileo Open air cinema! It took some doing (good babysitters are so rare!) with several attempts (thanks, super gale force winds), so we were pretty chuffed with our mom ‘n dad night out at the movies. But this wasn’t just any ol’ movie date; Hell’s no! It was Continue reading

Everyone’s a braai master at Galbi

So back in July I celebrated yet another trip around the sun. More importantly to note, I got to spend it with a bunch of great people Im grateful to call friends, at an awesome little restaurant called Galbi’s. It was an evening of hands-on fun and great food!

But that evening of awesomeness almost didn’t happen. You see, truth be told, Continue reading
